Victorian Success for Hemel Hempstead Old High Street
Victorian Success for Hemel Hempstead Old High Street
Community Action Dacorum (CAD) held its annual Victorian Evening on Saturday 19 November. The evening was opened at 5.45pm by Hemel Hempstead’s very own Queen Victoria led by the Blue Angel Majorettes.
The queen was greeted by MP Mike Penning and other local dignitaries including Pickworths partner and CAD Chairman Glenda Ferneyhough. This was followed by carols from Dacorum Community Choir and St Mary’s Church Choir before the ‘Light up a life’ ceremony in aid of the Ian Rennie Hospice to celebrate and remember the life of loved ones. This was followed by the High Street Christmas lights switch on to the bells of St Mary’s church.
Glenda said “As CAD’s new chairman I am glad that Pickworths has been able to offer some sponsorship to CAD for its Victorian Evening. This long established event for all the family is well supported by the public and also gives a number of local charities an opportunity to man stalls to showcase their work in the Dacorum area”.
