Pickworths Partner, Belinda Walkinshaw’s team ‘Relentless FTB’ won the National Team Chase Championships on Sunday 28th March 2010.
The event held at Tur Langton, Nr Market Harborough in Leicestershire consisted of 13 qualifying teams, usually of 4 horses running a course of 2 miles and 30 fences, all of which have to be jumped. The fastest overall team wins, with the time of the third rider to successfully complete the course in each team recording that team’s time. Pickworths sponsored the start and the first fence.
Disaster was looming when Belinda had to pull out her star horse Bruce through injury so Relentless were down to 3 horses and all 3 had to finish. Rowan Cope rode Mani, Dougie Gittins rode Bono and Millie Stewart-Wood was on Warrior. Although the odds were stacked against them they won by 2 seconds. It was an amazing feat but Belinda believes it is because the horses are trained to peak fitness and didn’t tire over the challenging course.
This is the second win for Relentless who also won the 2008 championships.
