The “Pickworths Open Qualifier Team Chase” class at the Bicester Hunt with Whaddon Chase Team Chase event held at Newton Morrell, near Bicester, on Sunday 11th October 2009 proved to be an exciting competition and waswon by Relentless FTB , a team in which 3 of the 4 horses (including the lead horse Bruce – pictured right) are owned and produced by Pickworths Partner Belinda Walkinshaw. The team also qualified for the 2010 Chesterton Humberts National Team Chase Championship.
Team Chasing was invented by Douglas Bunn (The Master of Hickstead in 1974). The sport involves teams of 4 horses and riders galloping round a course of natural fences over approximately 2 miles. It has the thrill of the chase, the speed of racing, the skill of eventing and the discipline of show-jumping all combined into one. |
